Our pupils, their families and trust colleagues have been celebrating this week as GCSE results were being collected. Here are some snippets from some of the brilliant news we’ve had this week:
Astrea Academy Dearne
Students and staff at Astrea Academy Dearne are celebrating a fantastic year of GCSE results – marking the school’s highest achievements in recent years.
Despite facing numerous challenges, young people nationwide have demonstrated remarkable resilience and success – and the students of Astrea Academy Dearne are no exception.
Staff at the academy have worked tirelessly to support students throughout the academic year.
The school implemented a robust programme of additional learning opportunities, including three weekly compulsory sessions, targeted masterclasses and breakfast booster sessions – all designed to ensure every student was fully prepared.
This commitment has paid off, with many students achieving exceptional results.
Among the top performers are:
Liam Sanderson who achieved five Grade 9s, one Grade 8, one Distinction* and one Grade 7
Victoria Drombrowska, Alesha Burton and Jaya Evans-Duggan who all achieved a strong set of Grade 9 to Grade 6 results



Astrea Academy Netherwood
Staff at Netherwood have gone above and beyond to ensure their students were as prepared as possible for their GCSEs. In particular, the very many hours of before-school, after-school and weekend and holiday sessions to get students “exam-ready”, which would appear to have paid off in spades!
Among the stand-out performers were:
Joel Mosley who achieved eight Grade 9s and one Grade 8
Indi Lotay who achieved five Grade 9s and three Grade 8s

Astrea Academy Sheffield
Students and staff at Astrea Academy Sheffield are today celebrating another year of fantastic GCSE results, with more students than ever achieving top grades in English and Maths.
The school has offered weekly additional revision across the year, access to theatre trips and overseas residentials and a bespoke mentoring programme where A-level scholars tutored their Y11 peers.
The extra support paid off with many students achieving excellent results.
Among the high performers include:
Rhema Korely who achieved eight 9s and one 7.
Fidel Ohaka who achieved two 9s, two 8s, three 7s and a 6.
Amani Cooray who achieved one 9, three 8s, three 7s and two 6s.



Cottenham Village College
Staff at CVC have gone above and beyond to ensure their students were as prepared as possible for their GCSEs and for coming to support the results day to see the children open their envelopes.
Among the high performers include:
Louis Holden – Hills Road – Maths, Economics and Music (Four grade 9, one 8, four 7)
Emily Freckleton – Hills Road – Biology, Chemistry and Psychology (Two grade 9, two 8, two 7, 6 and distinction L2)
Marco Benet Diaz – Hills Road – Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Economics (Four grade 9, four 8, 7, 6)
Jessica Gillingham – Hills Road – Maths, Chemistry and Biology (eight grade 9 and two grade 8)
Shreya Thiahulan – Hills Road – Psychology, Maths, and History of Art (A grade 9, seven grade 8, two 7)
Ellie Hawkins – Hills Road – Physics, Maths, Further Maths and Computer Science (eight grade 9 and two grade 8)



Ernulf Academy
Students at Ernulf Academy have achieved a fantastic set of GCSE and BTEC results for 2025, including a huge increase in the number of children who achieved a grade 4 or above in English and maths.
A notable mention goes to Jack Keane, who achieved seven grade 9s, one grade 8 and two grade 7s.
Freya Reeves attained five grade 9s and five grade 8s.
Lottie Walker achieved five grade 9s, three 8s and one 6.
Katie Lomas picked up two grade 9s, two 8s, two 7s, two 6s and a 5.
Olivia Osborne attained two grade 9s, an 8, one 7, two 6s and three 5s.



Longsands Academy
Staff at Longsands have gone above and beyond to ensure their students were as prepared as possible for their GCSEs. In particular, the school provided holiday and after school revision sessions, breakfast warm-up sessions, support tutorials and subject clinics.
The extra support paid off with many students achieving excellent results allowing them to stay on at Longsands to continue their studies in Sixth Form.
Among the high performers were:
Riley Cox who achieved Grade 9 in English Literature, mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, history, Latin and computer science and a Grade 8 in English Language.
Emma Ulph who achieved Grade 9 in English Literature, mathematics, history, RE, biology, chemistry, physics and Grade 8 in English Language, French and Further mathematics.
Felicity Conway who achieved Grade 9 in mathematics, history, further mathematics, French, biology, chemistry, physics and business studies as well as a Grade 8 English Literature and a Grade 7 in English Language.
Oliver Holmes who achieved Grade 9 in English Language, mathematics, history, computer science, French, chemistry, physics; a Grade 8 in biology and Grade 7 in further mathematics and English Literature.
William Jones who achieved Grade 9 in mathematics, history, Latin, computer science, biology, chemistry, physics; a Grade 7 in English Literature and Grade 6 in English Language.
A special mention must go to Viktoriia Litvinchuk who has overcome many challenges to achieve a great set of results including Grades 8 in combined sciences, Grade 7 in mathematics, Grade 6 in English Literature and history and Grade 5 in English Language and French. Viktoriia started at Longsands in June 2022, having only recently arrived in the country, without any family, speaking no English and having escaped the war in Ukraine. We are incredibly proud of what she has achieved in just three years.


St Ivo
Among the high performers at St Ivo, special mentions include:
Nathanya Fernandes – eight grade 9s and two grade 8s
Bethany Leigh-Brown – six grade 9s, three grade 8s and one grade 6
Phoebe Greenwood – three grade 9s, four grade 8s and two grade 7s
Olivia Varey – four grade 9s, two grade 8s and four grade 7s



Woodfields Academy
Twice as many students have gained a strong pass in english, maths, science, a humanities subject and a language and students are, on average, doing half a grade better across their subjects than the previous year.
The school has offered revision sessions on Saturdays, in the holidays, before and after school; alongside additional support that has been needed for vulnerable students.
The extra support paid off with many students achieving excellent results.
Among the high performers are:
Calvin Lin with five Grade 9s, two 8s and a grade 7
Ryan Delves-Finnegan with four Grade 9s, one 8 and three grade 7s
