++ Inspectors say pupils are polite, courteous and committed learners ++ Gooseacre Primary Academy in Thurnscoe, part of Astrea Academy Trust, has been praised for offering its pupils a good education in all categories.

Following an inspection in March, inspectors said that Gooseacre is a “warm and welcoming school at the heart of the community”.

The inspectors say that Gooseacre is “uncompromising in its aspiration for pupils”, giving them an ambitious, broad and exciting curriculum that is “rich in vocabulary”.

Behaviour around the school is “calm and orderly” and pupils enjoy working with pastoral staff when they need support or some extra help to manage their emotions.

The needs of pupils with SEND are quickly identified and teachers make the necessary adaptations to the curriculum, so that it is fully accessible to them.

The Ofsted report is highly complimentary of Gooseacre’s pupils, saying they conduct themselves well and are “polite, courteous and committed learners”.

Pupils enjoy the leadership responsibilities they have, such as being sports leaders to promote the importance of staying active.

The inspectors also note that the school’s values of scholarship and respect are brought to life through the actions and attitudes of the pupils.

The report notes that children at Gooseacre thrive in the early years, with skilled practitioners modelling the ambitious expectations they have for children’s behaviour.

The early years setting provides a “secure foundation for children’s future learning”, it adds.

Principal of Gooseacre Primary Academy, Jack Moore, said: “I am very proud of this excellent Ofsted report and would like to thank all the staff and pupils for their hard work and our families for their ongoing support of Gooseacre.

“This report underscores the high standards we set for learning and progress, ensuring every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

“We have worked hard to build a supportive and welcoming school community, where every child is valued and can achieve their best, and it is wonderful to have this commitment praised by Ofsted inspectors.”

Chief executive officer of Astrea Academy Trust, Rowena Hackwood, said: “Congratulations to Jack and everyone at Gooseacre for this brilliant Ofsted report, which demonstrates the positive impact that the academy is having on the local community.

“The warm and welcoming atmosphere at the academy means that all pupils can thrive, both academically and socially, and I am very pleased to see the hard work of the whole school community fully recognised by the inspection team.”
