The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Leader of Attendance to join Astrea Academy Trust to support our Academies in promoting attitudes towards regular attendance in order to improve the educational experiences and live chances of our Pupils.

 

This is a full time, permanent position with an annual salary of £35,000. This position requires the post-holder to commit to 37.5 hours per week.

 

Duties Include (but not limited too):

  • Promoting good attendance and reducing absence, including persistent absence across the Trust.
  • Promoting positive attitudes towards regular school attendance, on the park of all students and their parents/carers in order to ensure maximum benefit and opportunity from their education
  • Leading on the promotion and roll-out of a trust-wide attendance strategy, ensuring effective implementation at school-level
  • Supporting with attendance ‘case-work’ – supporting school based attendance leads to address concerns for individual children and young people, whose education is at risk due to attendance concerns
  • Monitoring the attendance tracker, coding and escalating processes across the Trust

 

Required Skills/Experience

We are looking for candidates who can display the following skills and experience:

 

  • Experience as an Education Welfare Officer, Attendance Officer, Parent Liaison, Family Support Worker or related position involved in promoting school attendance (Essential)
  • Experience in reporting writing, such as court reports, utilising highly skilled written communication skills (Essential)
  • Experience of working in the education system and in multi-agency settings (Essential)
  • Experience of using a social work or counselling approach to working with parents and children (Desirable)
  • Level 3 (equivalent) Training in Safeguarding and Child Protection (Desirable)
