The past six months have proven an unprecedented challenge to schools everywhere and Astrea Academy Trust is determined to ensure that our pupils quickly recover any gaps in knowledge or skills.

We have created a number of exciting opportunities for committed, proactive and diligent Maths experts to provide tutoring support for our pupils.

Based at St Ivo Academy, these roles will be to complement the work of our Maths department, delivering crucial interventions to accelerate progress:

The Role

As a Maths tutor, you will work mainly with small groups KS4 pupils in the build-up to the GCSE examinations. Your tuition will consolidate and complement first-wave classroom teaching, building up confidence and skills around specific parts of the GCSE exams. The successful applicants will become key members of our Maths teams, working closely with the Heads of Department to ensure our pupils achieve these key qualifications. There may also be some KS3 interventions to deliver in Maths.

You might be a qualified teacher looking for a more flexible role away from the classroom, or you might be an existing or deferring undergraduate looking to begin a career in teaching. If it is the latter, you will gain extensive classroom experience and support, alongside brilliant networking opportunities to guide you on your way into an incredibly rewarding profession.

We would encourage applicants with excellent subject knowledge in GCSE Maths. All applications will be considered fairly and on an individual basis. It should also be emphasised that our tutors are employed on a casual basis and hours can be discussed at interview to best fit your existing commitments.
