Astrea Academy Trust has announced that Netherwood School has joined the Trust, marking the first secondary school to join the family of schools. Astrea is now responsible for 16 academies in the South Yorkshire area.

Led by Libby Nicholas, an outstanding Head and experienced national education leader, Astrea was established in 2015, with the aim of working with primary, secondary and all-through schools.

Astrea has the very highest of expectations when it comes to academic results, but the Trust’s aspirations far exceed the traditional concept of ‘schooling’.

Chief Executive, Libby Nicholas said: “We are absolutely delighted that Netherwood has joined our family of schools. At Astrea we are resolutely committed to delivering an education that ‘inspires beyond measure’. We want to equip every single young person with the knowledge and the confidence to go on and become the very best version of themselves possible. We focus on academic excellence, supported by the broadest range of enrichment opportunities encompassing arts, sports, music, debating, leadership and the community.

“We look forward to working with the Netherwood team to ensure that every young person has the best possible education throughout their time with us.”

Toby Eastaugh, Principal of Netherwood said: “I am delighted that we are the first secondary school to join Astrea; it is a significant landmark for Netherwood. The key values of the Trust, and the capacity and support it shall provide, will be of great benefit to our community and help secure long term success for the Academy.”
