‘At Waverley academy, we are passionate about supporting our ECT teachers, to ensure that they thrive in the education sector, supporting the development of our young people. We ensure that all teachers have a strong and robust package of support, which develops their subject knowledge, teacher tool kit and has their wellbeing at heart. Each ECT has an identified mentor, who they work with weekly to agree targets, look at ways to support and engage in deliberate practice time. ‘We have CPD meetings every Tuesday where we learn a range of modelling strategies and behaviour management strategies. We get opportunities to talk about how we have used these in our class, plan with others and get advice. I meet with my mentor weekly, who is always available to support me.’
