Astrea Academy Sheffield appoints first Principal 

++ Outstanding Head, Kim Walton to join brand new 2 – 18 Academy++

Astrea Academy Trust is announcing today that Kim Walton has been appointed as the very first Principal of Astrea Academy Sheffield, a brand new 2 – 18 school in Burngreave. An experienced Head, Kim Walton will take up post in January, working closely with Astrea, Sheffield City Council and the local community as the school prepares to welcome its first cohort of children in September 2018. 

Having worked in education for 12 years, Kim is currently Principal of Moor End Academy in Huddersfield, an outstanding school since 2009 and it is currently above average for the progress that students make. During her time as Head, Kim has focused on ensuring the Academy truly sits at the heart of its community, something which Astrea is committed to for the new academy in Burngreave, and has striven for the continued high expectations and results for all of the children in her care. Kim is a Specialist leader in Education and a Female Leadership Coach for the Department for Education.

Astrea will be holding a Parent and Community meeting to find out more about the new school on 12 December at 6pm – 7.30pm at Pitsmoor Methodist Church, 131 Burngreave Road, Sheffield, S3 9DG. 

Astrea Academy Trust has 20 academies across the country, with 18 in the South Yorkshire area.
